What works today
In plain English
Bigger text, high contrast, dark mode, keyboard use, labels for screen readers and Spanish are built in.
- Text size. Choose Normal, Large or Extra large in Settings, Display and help, from the A menu at the top of every app page, or on the very first sign-up screen. Everything in the app grows together.
- High contrast. Turn it on in Settings, Display and help. Text, borders and the focus outline get darker (lighter in dark mode), and faded text becomes solid. We check its colors against WCAG AA in an automated test.
- Dark mode. Switch between light and dark at any time.
- Less motion. When your device asks for reduced motion, the moving background, counting numbers and chat animations stop.
- Keyboard. App and legal pages start with a Skip to content link, focused controls show a visible outline, Ctrl+K (Cmd+K on a Mac) opens search in the app, and Esc closes it.
- Screen reader labels. The main navigation, the phone navigation bar and the icon buttons at the top of the page have names a screen reader reads out, and some forms announce their errors.
- Large tap targets. On touch screens, navigation links and buttons are at least 44 pixels tall.
- Spanish. The app and its emails are available in Spanish.
- Plain words. The home page explains your month in plain sentences, and money terms have short explanations you can open.
- Sign out when you step away. On a shared or library computer, Vekfinance can sign you out after 15, 30 or 60 minutes without use, with a one-minute warning first.
- Help from someone you trust. You can let a family member or caregiver look over your money, read only, and send them copies of the alerts you choose.
What we have not done yet
In plain English
No outside audit yet, charts are visual, and a few pieces come from other companies.
- Vekfinance has not been audited by an independent accessibility expert, so we do not claim full conformance with any standard.
- We have not yet tested every page from start to finish with screen readers such as VoiceOver, NVDA or JAWS.
- Charts are visual. Not every chart has a full text alternative yet.
- The month-close PDF is not a tagged PDF, so a screen reader may read it poorly.
- Connecting a bank happens in a window run by Plaid, our bank connection provider. We do not control how accessible it is.
- There is no phone app yet. Vekfinance runs in your web browser, on a phone or a computer.
The standard we aim for
In plain English
We aim for WCAG 2.2 level AA.
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. Until an independent audit says otherwise, treat this as our goal, not a promise that every page meets it.
