About
About Vekfinance
A private personal finance tool built by a small US team after Mint shut down.
Why we exist
Mint shut down on March 23, 2024. For 17 years it was the default way millions of people tracked their money. When Intuit killed it, the obvious replacements were all paid: Monarch at $14.99 a month, YNAB at $14.99 a month, Copilot at $13 a month. The free options were either ad-supported, designed to upsell into bill-negotiation services, or so limited they weren't really usable.
We thought there was room for an AI-first personal finance app that didn't treat its users as the product. So we built it.
What we believe
Privacy is the default
No data sold, no ads, no cross-site tracking. Ever.
One honest price
One plan with everything in it. No tiers, no upsell traps, no success fees.
AI without the leak
Anthropic processes your data per-request and doesn't train on it.
We're users too
Every feature exists because one of us needed it for our own money.
Who builds Vekfinance
Vekfinance is an independent, self-funded app with no outside investors and no parent company. Engineering, design, and support all come from the same small effort. There is no advertising network and there are no data-broker contracts behind the scenes. It is built by people with a background in security and compliance, so protecting customer data is the discipline behind the product, not a checklist hired out.
The whole stack is purpose-built. Next.js runs the app, AES-256 encrypts the database at rest, Plaid handles bank connectivity, and Anthropic Claude powers the AI. Every piece was chosen to keep the data path short and the trust surface small.
How we make money
Vekfinance Pro at $10 a month is our only revenue source. Your subscription includes unlimited AI Coach messages along with everything else. That's the whole business model. No advertising integrations, no bill-negotiation success fees, no selling aggregate data to third parties. If we ever change that, we'll say so on this page and in an email to every user before the change happens.
Your data is portable, and the door is always open
Everything you put into Vekfinance is yours to take out. You can export your full data at any time in an open, standard format from Settings, and you can permanently delete your account whenever you want, which removes your data immediately and cannot be undone. If Vekfinance ever had to wind down, we would give advance notice by email, and your export would keep working the whole time. You are never locked in, and your records are never held hostage.
What's next
The current focus is sharpening the core: more reliable categorization, better debt cockpit, deeper AI assistant context. Bigger items on the roadmap:
- Household sharing so a partner can co-manage budgets without a separate account.
- Native iOS app with widgets and notifications. The web app is great on mobile Safari but native does some things better.
- Investment tracking depth so brokerage holdings sit alongside cash flow with proper performance tracking.
- International bank support beyond the US, starting with Canada and the UK.
No promised dates. We ship when it's ready and document each release inline. If something on this list matters a lot to you, email and let us know; it helps us prioritize.
