Who it's for
Vekfinance for caregivers and families
Let someone you trust look over your money with you. Read only, you can see when they looked and which pages they opened, and you can stop sharing at any time.
Many families reach a point where an adult child, a sibling or a professional caregiver needs to keep an eye on someone's money. Sharing a bank password gives away far too much, and a weekly phone call misses the bill that is about to bounce.
Vekfinance has trusted contacts for this. The person whose money it is invites someone by email. That person signs in with their own Vekfinance login and can look, read only, at the pages that help them stay on top of things. Nothing else.
What a trusted contact can see
Seven pages of the owner's money, in a view clearly marked read only:
- Home: how the month is going, in plain words.
- Accounts and Transactions: balances, and every purchase, payment and deposit.
- Budget: what has been spent in each category this month.
- Bills and Cash flow: what is coming up, and whether the checking balance could run low before payday.
- Alerts: the alerts the owner sees, like a large charge or a bill due soon.
What a trusted contact cannot do
Read only is enforced on our server for every action, not just hidden on the screen. A trusted contact cannot:
- Move money. Vekfinance reads accounts; it never pays bills or moves money for anyone.
- Change anything: transactions, categories, budgets, settings or goals.
- Connect or remove banks, see security settings, or use the AI assistant on the owner's money.
- Export or download the owner's data.
- Open pages outside the list above, such as debts, investments or goals.
The owner stays in charge
The owner decides, for each person, which of the seven pages they can open, for example bills and alerts but not transactions.
- Invite by email from Settings, Household & trusted contacts. The link works once, expires in 14 days, and only works for someone signed in with the invited email address.
- Up to five trusted contacts at a time, for example two adult children and a caregiver.
- See when each person last looked, and a log of which pages they opened and when.
- Choose which alerts to send them copies of: large charges, charges that look unusual or like a possible scam, a low checking balance, and bills due soon.
- Stop sharing at any time. They lose access on their very next page or click.
- The trusted contact can also stop viewing on their own whenever they want.
Alert copies that respect privacy
When the owner chooses to share a kind of alert, the trusted contact gets a short email that names the person and the kind of alert, such as a bill due soon. It never includes amounts, merchants or balances, because email can be forwarded or read over a shoulder. The details stay behind the contact's own sign in.
Copies follow the owner's own alert settings: an alert the owner turned off for themselves is not copied either. The trusted contact can also ask for a weekly summary email that counts the alerts of each shared kind and says when they last looked, again with no amounts or details.
What it costs
Looking is free. The trusted contact needs their own Vekfinance login, but not a paid plan. The owner needs an active plan: new customers get one 30-day free trial, then it is $10 a month or $99 a year.
The trusted contact's own money is never shared with the owner. If they want to track their own money in Vekfinance too, that is their own plan.
Made for the person whose money it is
A few settings help when eyesight, a shared computer or scams are a worry:
- Bigger text: Normal, Large or Extra large, and the choice follows you to every device.
- High contrast: darker text, borders and focus outlines.
- Sign me out when I step away: for a shared or library computer.
- Scam warnings: a calm heads up when a payment looks like a common scam, such as a large gift card purchase, a wire, or a first payment to someone new by Zelle, Venmo, Cash App or PayPal.
- Benefit paydays: tell the app which day your Social Security or other monthly benefit is paid, so paydays and the cash forecast line up.
Frequently asked questions
Is a trusted contact the same as a household?
No. A household is for partners who each share a summary of their own money and one plan. A trusted contact is one way: they look at the owner's money, the owner does not see theirs, and they are not on the owner's plan.
Can a trusted contact pay bills or move money?
No. Vekfinance cannot move money for anyone. It reads accounts; it does not pay bills or make transfers.
Will the owner know when I look?
Yes. The owner sees when each trusted contact last looked, and a log of which pages they opened. That is on purpose: it keeps the arrangement honest for everyone.
Does the trusted contact have to pay?
No. Viewing someone else's money is free. You need your own Vekfinance login, using the email address the invite was sent to.
The invite link stopped working. What now?
Invite links work once and expire after 14 days. Ask the person to send a new invite from their settings; a new invite replaces the old link.
How do I stop sharing?
Open Settings, Household & trusted contacts, and choose Stop sharing next to the person. They lose access on their next page or click. You can invite them again later.
