Bank connectivity runs through Plaid, a US-based aggregator that holds direct integrations with thousands of financial institutions. You sign into your bank inside Plaid's secure flow; Vekfinance receives an opaque, read-only access token and uses it to pull transactions, balances, and account metadata on a daily background schedule.

The list below covers the institutions most users ask about. If you don't see yours, try connecting it anyway during signup. Most regional banks and credit unions work even when they're not named here.

What gets synced

Transactions: date, amount, merchant name, description, and the bank-provided category hint (which our categorizer uses as one of four signals).
Account balances: current and available balance, refreshed once per day per account.
Account metadata: account name, type (checking, savings, credit, brokerage), and currency. We use the type to apply the right sign convention (e.g., credit card purchases display as debits).
For credit cards: APR if the bank exposes it, and minimum payment for the current statement.

What doesn't happen

We never see your bank login. Credentials go directly to Plaid in a sandboxed flow.
The access token Plaid gives us is read-only. No payments, transfers, or account changes are possible through the connection.
We don't scrape or screen-scrape. Plaid maintains direct, sanctioned integrations with each bank.
We don't sell aggregated bank data to anyone. See the Security page for the full data flow.

If your bank doesn't connect

A few options if the connection fails or your bank isn't available:

CSV import: every bank exports CSVs. Drag yours into Vekfinance and our parser handles Chase, BofA, Wells Fargo, Capital One, Citi, USAA, Discover, Apple Card, AMEX, and most credit unions automatically. Custom mapping for the rest.
Manual entry: small accounts (a single credit card, a savings goal) often don't need automation. Add transactions manually from any account's detail page.
Request the bank: email [email protected] with the institution name. We pass requests to Plaid, and most banks get added within a quarter.
